Club History
The South Coast Model Railway Club was started in 2006.
A group of Model Railway enthusiasts wanted to form a Club where they could meet and run their model trains and discuss model railways in general.
One of their criteria for the premises that they hoped to find for the setting up of the Club was that when a layout was constructed it did not have to be put up, and then taken down again every time they visited the Clubroom.
The premises they agreed to move in to offered the space they wanted.
Over the years since 2006 the Club has expanded the space that it occupies, and now has five permanant, large, layouts enjoyed by all members of the Club.
Indeed, the Gauge 1 layout is considered by some to be the largest, permanent, indoor, layout anywhere in the south of England, if not the UK !
